David Ward at The Adelphi, Hull
18th July 2012
Price: £5David Ward delivers a delicious musical gumbo fusing together folk, jazz, blues, theatre, and pure imaginative wit. Seemingly unencumbered by the usual conventions, there’s a surprise around every corner. His music has been labeled a “rare, bold foray into melodic experimentation”, both “stunning and poetic”. “Think Zappa meets James Brown meets Tom Waits meets Stan Getz meets Marvin Gaye. Prepare to be dazzled, amazed, moved and amused.” - The Province.
Not an artist to be pigeon holed, singer/songwriter and guitarist David Ward is unwilling to fly his musical flag over any single genre or, for that matter, any facet of artistic expression.
A theatre school graduate with a deep love and respect for every branch of art, David recently created the Wachu Concert Series, a monthly showcase of indie music talent that promotes community among Vancouver artists and fans. He also experiments in film, as demonstrated by his four self-produced videos that will accompany the release of his new recording, The Arrival. He continues to explore theatre through raucous, fan inclusive, live performances and writes a weekly blog that has a strong international following.
